Sydney Harbour Bridge to Westgate Bridge Melbourne 2018

The Year Ahead

On the 1st of January 2018 I will be walking from Sydney to Melbourne to raise money and awareness for the organisation Destiny Rescue. They rescue children from sex slavery and train them in occupations so they are able to support themselves with an income.

I am not fit.

I am not young.

I am however determined to make a difference changing a childs destiny for the better.

I believe we are all born with a God given destiny and sometimes circumstances and people cruelly rob us of that destiny. When it happens with children it is particularly distressing.

My name is Tracey.

I know I have a hard year ahead to prepare myself but I know every bit of discomfort will be worth it with every child who is liberated from a life of sex slavery.

The walk will commence from under the harbour bridge in Sydney on the 1st of January 2018 and is scheduled to finish at the Westgate Bridge Port Melbourne the 20th January 2018.

By the end of the walk I plan to raise $20,000 and increase the awareness for the plight of girls who have had their God given destinies taken from them.

I look forward to sharing my preparations and plans with you as I journey through the year.

 Start of the journey begins

It’s a cool windy saturday morning in Melbourne. Hubby and team member extraordinaire Paul is packing the car for the start of our adventure. He has given our old bomb Subaru a new paint job of orange and black ( the colours of Destiny Rescue) with his expert sign writing advertising the fundraising walk.

We are all feeling a little daunted and are trembling with excitement and anticipation. My sister Peta is having some tummy issues as she is learning how to drive a car with a trailer today and is a bit anxious. She has been a fountain of support though and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. The journey would certainly have been a little colourless without her on our team.

There will be frequent updates on our Facebook page “walk for destiny” and my tech savvy son is going to start posting on instagram so keep a lookout for that as well.

All prayers and donations are gratefully accepted.

So goodbye Melbourne see you in around 23 days.

Sydney here we come.

Much Love

Tracey and the ‘walk for destiny’ team

Birthing

I feel like I am in labour about to birth a baby. Not the physical pain but the emotional and mental state where you don’t give two hoots about what is going on around you, but are putting all your energy towards birthing the baby.

This walk started out as a thought, a little seed, and the thought grew and developed into an entity which took on its own character. When I was teaching my children about Elijah and the widow who only had a little flour and oil, it emphasised it’s about using what you have.

If I had $20,000 would I just donate it to Destiny Rescue? Maybe. But then alot of people would not have heard of Destiny Rescue and what their mission is.

That morning a little voice in my said, ‘You have legs and you have a voice.’

Everybody has something that can be given for the benefit of those less fortunate. What do you have that would change the life of someone else for the better?

Step out, step forward and bring in the new year with an inner conviction to change, not only your life for the better, but someone else’s life as well.

Call to Arms

In 1983 hubby and myself went for a country drive on Anzac day, and ended up in Mittagong as they were having their Anzac Day service. It was incredibly moving and the serviceman that spoke did so with passion borne out of every emotion that war brings. He wondered that in todays world if the call to arms went out whether there would be a response like there was in 1914.

We do have forces that are fighting in the world today. People that are passionate about peace keeping and protection. Destiny Rescue is one such force that is fighting a war today, against the evil which makes some childrens lives hell. A war to rescue children from their enemies and give them a new life.

Walk for Destiny has joined this war to support Destiny Rescue and for this war to be successful it needs finances to fund it. To rescue, restore, protect and empower.

This friday on Australia day we are reminded that we walk in freedom. The majority of us have choices of where we live, who we work for, what we do for a living.

This week think about the children who dont have a choice and are abused for the pleasure of others.

Think about collecting a dollar or two from neighboors, family, workmates, interest groups. Ten people that collect $10.00 makes $100. Twenty people collecting $10.00 makes $200 and so on. It would only take 150 people to collect $10.00 and another child is rescued.

Our Walk for Destiny facebook page has a secure donation link where every donation  goes towards giving a child a new life in freedom.

January 26th is Call to Arms day. Join the fight and make a difference.

Remember if 150 people donate $10.00  a child is rescued.
